I have to go to tools, option, other, advanced option,COM add-ins, select
"Itunes sync add-in" then click o.k. The instructions from IPhone for
Outlook 2003 states to then hit "apply" but there is no apply option it is
shaded not able to click.

You mean the add-in gets deselected each time?
When exactly does it get deselected?
-immidiately when you go back to that dialog box
-after restarting Outlook
-after restarting your computer?

Hi thank you for taking the time to answer my question so quickly. It gets
deselected every time I go out of Outlook then come back in.

But other add-ins remain selected? Sounds like an issue with Itunes add-in
then. Make sure you are running the latest version.
In addition you might want to reset the add-in cache by renaming extend.dat
to .old. It will automatically rebuild the next time you start Outlook.

Hello again, you have no idea how much I appreciate you trying to help me.
Actually none of the "add-ins" stay selected. I did just notice that right
below the boxes there is a an area that says"Load Behavior" It states "not
loaded a runtime error occured during the loading of the com add-in. Could
that have something to do with my problem?
Thanks Again
Pauline

My regular email address is (e-mail address removed) if that would be easier.

I'm having the same problem. I followed your advice, and renamed the
extend.dat file to extend.old, then rebooted Outlook. No new extend.dat was
created. I then chose to remove the add-in, and tried to find it to add it.
I could not find it. The path below the file before I removed it was
c:\program files\common files\apple\mobile device support ... I could not
see the rest of the name because the dialog box was not expandable.

Please help. If you need my private email address, it is
(e-mail address removed).

Additional information to be added to my last post.

I rebooted my computer and extend.dat was recreated. The add-in returned to
the list of COM add-ins. However, the problem persists. After selecting the
add-in, and closing the dialog box, the add-in is automatically deselected.

Here is the fix, thanks to a very helpful and knowledgeable Apple tech
support person.

Go to Help in Outlook. Then select About Outlook. When the dialog box
opens, you will see a selection for Disabled Items. Select it. You should
now see that the COM add-in which you have been trying to select is included
in the list. Click on it, then select to enable it. Close the dialog box
and return all the way to Outlook. Close Outlook, then re-open it. Now
follow the directions you were previously given, and this time, when you
select the COM add-in and exit, it should remain selected. It worked
beautifully for me.

Good Luck
