outlook 2003 inbox. Reports that there are 6 messages in the inbox, but in
reality there is only 1 that I can see. No filters are in use & is set to
display total number of items.
Suggestions on how to fix this?

It displays next the to inbox folder, green color.

Switching to 'show total of unread messages' show the correct total.

The green number in brackets [x] means it's the total # in the folder. in
bold black parens (x) is unread. Are you using a view that hides unread
messages? Did you reset the view?

As far as I can tell, no view filters are in use. When looking @ view
options, I see All fields, no grouping, sort descending, filter off.
