Hello,
I've written a program to match incoming delivery reports with
messages in the Sent Items folder. It's working on Outlook 2003 on one
PC but on another PC, I have a curious problem.
We use different mailsystems in the same domain/company and use
Sendmail as a central router.
The problem is that the MSGID appearing in the Sendmail log for my
sent messages is different to the one I can see in Outlook as reported
by OutlookSpy. There is a consistent difference of C0C51 which is
incremented by 1 for each consecutive message.
For example, for the same sent message, Sendmail shows:
(e-mail address removed)
whereas Outlook will show:
(e-mail address removed)
Both PCs are using the same mailbox, same profile configured, same
path for messages. The MSGIDs reported in Outlook 2003 on the first PC
are identical to those in Sendmail, so I'm thinking that the problem
is related to Outlook on the second PC.
Any ideas why this behaviour? I'm posting this to Sendmail and
Exchange groups as well.
Thanks,
- Alan.
