Outlook 2003 - slow when switching between 2 emails in inbox

This just started yesterday, every time I open Outlook, after it is running,
switching between 2 emails that are in the inbox takes 5 to 10 seconds or
more (I have the preview pane on). I run the detect and repair, then all is
well. Detect & repair indicates no errors. If I close Outlook and reopen the
problem returns. I have all the latest updates, etc.

Preview pane is almost the same as opening the email. Are you experiencing
slowness when opening messages? Are you at home or in the office? Possibly
network issues?

Thanks for the reply. I am at home. The messages open slowly also, but as I
mentioned before, after I run the detect and repair everthing is great. My
operating system is XP Pro, MS Office for Small Businness 2003, I have a
2.2GHZ processor with 2G Ram. I have thought about re-installing Outlook.

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. It ended up being Spybot had
filled my 'restricted sites' folder with hundreds of addresses. Once i had
deleted all these addresses and deleted spybot from my system outlook ran
like it should. If you're running third party spyware then this may be worth
a try. Good Luck

I ran scanpst.ext on the outlook.pst file, this took care of the problem.
However, before I ran scanpst.exe, I noticed that I could from the drop down
menu in outlook open tools, options, select mail setup, select data files,
highlight the outlook.pst file, open folder, then close everthing without
making any changes and that also took care of the problem - but it came back
everytime I closed and re-opened outlook. Since I have ran scanpst.exe, the
problem is completely gone - scanpst.exe did indicate that there were errors
with the file.
