Outlook 2003 spell check not ignoring original msg when checked

In Outlook 2003 under Options, Spelling, I have checked the box that says to
ignore original message text in reply or forward. Despite this Outlook is
spell checking the entire email including all previous reponses and replies
and it is driving me nuts. Any suggestions? It is happening to two other
peers as well.
