Outlook 2003 Synch errors

I have a user running Outlook 2003 in Exchange Cache Mode. In his folder
list he has a folder that says "Synch Isues" and under that he has a
"Conflict" folder. He has some e-mails in these folders that also appear in
the "Inbox" folder.

Can anyone tell me what is causing these e-mails to go to thses folders?
Also, if I delete these messages from these folders, will they also delete
from the Inbox? Thas is to say, are these merely pointers that reference
messages in the Inbox?
