Outlook 2003 "The installation source for this product is unavaila

I believe I have a problem with Outlook and tried to use the "Detect and
Repair" tool under the Help Menu. I got the error message "The installation
source for this product is unavailable. Verify that the source exists and you
can access it."

I inserted the original CD, removed the installation files (LIS) and
satisfactorily ran the Windows Installer Clean Up program. None of these
worked.

Can anyone help me here? Many thanks, Russ

Kathleen:

No it was installed from a CD.

While researching this, I believe I saw somewhere that you installed any
Office items separately, this could be a cause of the problem. I subsequently
installed frontpage. Does this have impact on the situation?

Thanks for the help. Russ

It shouldn't, as far as I'm aware. Let's go back to the original post. What
version of Outlook are you running and what problems do you see?

I have Office Outlook 2003 (11.8010.8036) SP2

The problem I am having relates to synchronizing my Blackberry Pearl phone.
I cannot do it. After spending many hours on the phone with Blackberry Upper
support level, they came to the conclusion that the problem was within
Outlook. I am not quite sure why. Each time I try to open the Synchronization
software, I get a message that says "The installation source for this product
is unavailable. Verify that the source exists and you can access it", the
same message I get when I try to "Detect and Repair" in Outlook.

Does this clarify my issue at all?

I try to run Blackberry's desktop manager, but every time I try to open it,
the message that I mentioned in my last post comes up, so I cannort use it to
synchronize my blackberry.

Have you tried uninstalling the Desktop Manager, restarting the PC/laptop,
and then reinstalling it? Also, do you have the latest version of the Desktop
Manager and any related patches if they are available?
Has your PC password expired? That would cause problems as well.

First, many thanks for your persistance, and your good ideas.

Yes, I have uninstalled desktop manager (several times), shut down the
computer (it is a desktop, not a laptop) and reinstalled the desktop manager
on my desktop, which semed to install okay. I do have the latest version of
the software including all patches. By the way, the software works fine on my
second computer -- the laptop.

My desktop computer password is up to date and I use the desktop for a lot
of other activities (Excel, Word, Project Frontpage,IE7), all of which work
fine.

Frustrating, isn't it?

This is worth a shot: Close Outlook. Rename your Outlook profile. Uninstall
the Blackberry Desktop Manager. Restart the PC. Create a new Outlook profile,
associate it with your PST. Install the Blackberry Desktop Manager.

Let me know what happens.
