Outlook 2003 "to.." in addressing email

i'm using outlook 03. When I click "to..." after creating a new email to open the Contacts to insert an address, i get the following message:
"The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted... For info on how to remove this folder, see MS Office Help..." When I click the OK button, the Select Names dialog box pops up, with no names showing. When i drop down to the list of Contacts folders, i can find the one that contains my data. I can't figure out how to delete the empty folder, as in my navigation pane only one Contact folder is visible. Anyone encounter this problem or now how to help?
thanks in advance.

Remove the invalid entry here:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change.
