Using Outlook 2003, connecting to a 2003 exchange server, when creating a new
profile and I setup an exchange connection with the cache mode on I receive
the ill fated “unable to open default e-mail folders†when I try to connect.
If I modify that same profile and turn cache mode off the profile launches
without error and the session is established. If I go back in again and turn
cache mode on same error “unable…†as before.
Now I could understand it if this were the case on all the boxes that
connect to the exchange server, not the case. Right now this happens on about
8%. What puzzles me more is that these systems are managed, all imaged, all
same version of the apps, all at the same patch level.
I’m aware of the dependency of the .ost file for cache mode sessions. Theses
files are not being created on the boxes with the errors. By placing a raw
ost file in the folder that contains the .pst file for the profile has
resolved most of these problems. I have two where this has not worked.
Any ideas out there?...TIA for you feedback
