outlook 2003, verizon and vista

I just installed outlook 2003 on a new computer with Vista as the OS. I
configured outlook to access my verizon e-mail account. periodically i seem
to have issues with synchronization. when I select send/receive, nothing
happens.

Yesterday when I rebooted the computer it seemed to work. Today, I can not
seem to get it to work. when I enter the e-mail account wizard and test the
account settings, it all seems to be OK and I do not get any errors.

II tried to set up another account and use it as the default, but that did
not improve the problem

Any recommendations?

If you have a virus scanner that integrates with Outlook, disable this
integration and try again.

I have the same problem with Outlook. As a matter of fact, my send and
receive has been sending the same email over and over 42 times so far. My
friends are blocking my emails. My ISP said to go into my virus scanner and
turn off the out going mail check because sometimes that hangs it up. I am
scanning right now and I have turned it off and I will see. Is there an
update for outlook that goes with Vista? I do not want to use the sophomoric
microsoft mail program.

For many AV programs, it is necessary to uninstall the program completely
and then reinstall without the mail scanning feature before you can truly
turn it off.
