Outlook 2003 Very Slow with McAfee 2004

I have bought a new high-end brandname laptop with XP Pro and Office 2003 Pro, installed McAfee Internet Security Center 6.0 2004 (including Firewall, AntiVirus, Privacy Service), and downloaded and installed all latest MS and McAfee software updates, by the books. Hoping to lessen intra-computer response, I opted out some sub-features in McAfee. The installations were easy. Without McAfee, Outlook 2003 was fast, reliable. After installing and working with McAfee, Outlook 2003 is miserably slow in most operations and sometimes appears to freeze. I deinstalled McAfee, and Outlook 2003 was fast again. I reinstalled McAfee, the same problem occurs. So, I have a painful Outlook 2003 operational response time issue. Any clear step by step advice would be graciously appreciated. Thank you.

Do you have McAfee checking the inbound and outbound messages ? That will
slow it way down and from what I have heard, it does not help either. I am
running a bit of a dog system that is only 500 MHz and 256 M Ram, WinXP Pro
and McAfee did slow my whole system down, but not all that much, but did
slow Outlook down so that instead of about 5 seconds for it to open, it was
about 30 seconds. I have the same setup as you on the McAfee Suite and gave
up after it crashed my system a few times, so I just went with Zone Alarm
Pro with Web Filtering, Spybot 1.2 and AVG 7 Professional and things
improved alot. You might want to post also to the newsgroup:
microsoft.public.security

There are alot of McAfee users that are on there and are very sharp about
changes that might help.

Jason,
I am not aware of any on this server or any other Microsoft Server, but
I have had several people tell me that McAfee has a good public forum. Now
in going to their home page, it sure is not clear how to get there, I do not
see any mention of it. Will need to do some checking on this one.
