I have followed the instructions to configure Outlook 2003 to connect
to Exchange via RPC over HTTP but I think I am running into some
resolution problems.
Firstly I can remote into the server with no problem and use Outlook
Web Access but cannot get the HTTP Outlook to work.
When Outlook opens it says it cannot contact the exchange server.
Some background ....
My network is connected via a dynamic IP address that I subscribe to a
dynamic DNS company to get a constant domain name such that to use Web
Access I simply type https://xxx.dyndsn.com/Exchange (this works)
Exchange is running on a server called "kbserver" and the instructions
say I should set up the URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange
like this...
"kbserver.mydomain.com.au" and Principal name should be
"msstd:kbserver.mydomain.com.au"
I think the issue lies in these two settings since
"kbserver.mydomain.com.au" will never resolve to anything outside my
network as I have a dynamic IP so can I somehow use the
"xxx.dyndsn.com" that maps to my dynamic IP ?
I have tried a few combinations but am just poking around in the dark.
I guess in summary how would I ping my exchange server given my
dynamic DSN assigned domain name ?
Some direction at least would be appreciated
thanks
