Outlook 2003 will not archive Calendar

I've read some discussion on another forum about how to fix a problem
with Outlook not being able to archive

eg; http://office-outlook.com/outlook-forum/index.php/m/169009/

I think my situation is a little different though because it deals
with the Calendar. In the discussion it was suggested to run
scanpst.exe on the pst you're trying to archive, but this is a
Calendar, so no .pst file. The calendar is located on an exchange
server. Also, I cannot troubleshoot by sorting messages by modified
date and see if that is the problem in archiving since this is a
Calendar.

I am trying to create an archive folder directly on the users local
hard drive but the archiving option simply creates a blank
archive.pst , it adds it to the calendar list as an option to view,
and when opened, contains no appointments, recurring or otherwise.

Is this a problem that needs to be taken care of on the exchange
server or a problem local to the users pc? I'd appreciate any help in
figuring this out.

1. That site is not "another forum" - it is a Microsoft newsgroup

2. Archive works on the modified date. Check the modified dates of the
appointments you expect to be archived and see if they meet the requirements
of the archive setting. If you imported them into the mailbox, the modified
date is the date of import.

What stops you?

I am trying to create an archive folder directly on the users local
hard drive but the archiving option simply creates a blank
archive.pst , it adds it to the calendar list as an option to view,
and when opened, contains no appointments, recurring or otherwise.

Recurring appointments clearly won't autoarchive unless the end date has
passed. Recurring appointments with no end date will never archive.

You need to examine the modified dates.

Can you tell me how to view a modify date of a calendar item?

edit an existing table view - all appointments or By category for example -
and add the modified date field to the view.

I found how to view calendar appointments by modified date

So somebody would not really be able to archive "old" calendar
appointments separately from "new" calendar appointments if they were
both modified recently? How would it become modified recently if the
appointment originated from years ago ?

I think what has happened is his calendar dates were modified by the
exchange server somehow, and now all of the modified dates are the
same. He probably won't be able to archive without losing everything
from his calendar. I'll have to check his modified dates now that I
know how.

Did you edit the appointment? Import it? Migrate to a new Exchange server?

I do not have control over the exchange server in our infrastructure
but yes they did migrate to a new exchange server last year.

I'm guessing there aren't anyways to come back from this ?

See http://www.slipstick.com/addins/housekeeping.asp. ArchiveAssist (and
possibly other apps listed there) will work on received date. You could
also use advanced find and move them to an archive folder yourself.
