Over the past several weeks, Outlook 2003 will not backup personal folders.
The
dialog box appears, but a few minutes after clicking the backup option I get
a dialog saying "Outlook has failed to successfully shut down. Please restart
and then exit Outlook again. You may also need to restart your computer."
When I do so, I get another error dialog: "Cannot copy Outlook. The process
cannot access the fie because another process has locked a portion of the
file." This was an intermittent problem, but now it's constant. When I
restart the computer, and then Outlook, I get the message to the effect that
the personal folders did not shut down correctly and may be damaged.
I've repaired, uninstalled, and reinstalled Office Pro 2003 and Win XP Pro.
I have McAfee VirusScan and Firewall 2005 and scan daily. I also do daily
scans with AdAware, SpyBot, and MS Antivirus.
I'd very much appreciate advice on this.
Thanks,
RJ
