I just installed Office 2003 SE on this computer under WinXP Pro. The first
time I clicked on the new Outlook 2003 shortcut, a nmessage appeared,
stating that Outlook failed to terminate normally the last time I ran it,
the message gave me the option to either start Outlook 2003 in Safe Mode or
to start Outlook 2003 without Safe Mode. That error message is most
interesting, because it could only relate to the last time I ran OUTLOOK
2002/XP and that was several months ago. I had even uninstalled Office
2002/XP at that time---not today. When I selected the option to start
Outlook 2003 in Safe Mode, it opened and seemed to work ok. However, when I
exited Outlook 2003, then tried to restart it by clicking on the same
shortcut on my desktop, the hourglass appeared briefly, but Outlook 2003
would not start; even after I perforkmed a cold restart of this computer.
I even uninstalled Office 2003 and reinstalled it, then downloaded Office SP
3, etc., but the same problem still persists. I have even selected the
option to start Outlook without Safe Mode, but the same problem exists
there. And after the first time Outlook 2003 starts, it won't start again
no matter what I do.
How can I get Outlook 2003 to stop tryting to force me into Safe Mode and
to start successfully?
With kindest regards,
Dick Smith
