Outlook 2003 with 2002 .PST file

Stephen Porter

Hi,

I just upgraded to Office 2003 with Outlook 2003. I
successfully have my old .PST recognized and set up, but I
noticed that the original .PST file installed by Outlook 2003 is
a different format than the older one.

I'm wondering about what the advantages of the new "Office
..PST" - type file are and if they are worth having, I'd like to
migrate my old .PST file data to the new format.

Can this be done and is it worth it?

Thanks in advance.

The new UNICODE format no longer has a 2 GB limit. It's performance may be
marginally faster, but most end users won't notice that difference.

To migrate, simply create a new PST file in Outlook 2003. Copy the
information you want from your old one, then set the new one to be your
default and close the old one.
