A new HP Laptop running vista home premium.I decided to stay with MS Office
2003.Everything works fine except Outlook, I keep getting the message that
MAPI32.DLL is corrupt or the wrong version.I have
reinstalled, repaired, removed the 2007 version reinstalled 2003,all to no
avail.
If anyone can help, I'd be very grateful.

Hi Diane,

I found the utility and "double clicked" it did not seem to be doing anything.
I right clicked & told it run with admin priveligies, still no good. I then
reinstalled MS Office but still get the same message.

Find C:\Windows\System32\MAPI32.DLL and rename it to mapi32.old and run
Detect and Repair.

Ok. right click on MAPI32.DLL, choose properties. On the security tab, click
Advanced (at the bottom) Click the owner tab, Edit. Make your account the
owner. Go back out to the main security window and give your acct full
permission (may not be necessary as owner, but I did it). Close the dialog
and rename the file.

At start search, type fixmapi.exe. Right click on it and run as
administrator.
