When I open outlook I get the Splash Screen and then it doesn't do
anything else. In the task manager Outlook.exe is using 50% of the CPU.I
can still use other programs. i can startoutlook in safe mode ok.Any
thoughts.

You don't mention your operating system. When I had a similar problem using
Vista, I overcame it by setting Outlook to run in Windows XP compatibility
mode. You can set this via the shortcut's properties.

Let me know if it works for you too?

Hi Victor Delta,
Thanks for that but I am using XP. I'll just have to keep trying.

Use the scanpst.exe tool to fix it.

I'd try safe mode first. (Hold Ctrl as you click on the Outlook icon to
start in Safe mode.) Then a new profile
(http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/profile.htm).

As a n FYI - Don't use compatibility mode - outlook doesn't need it and it
can cause other problems.
