Outlook 2003 won't send, all of a sudden

One day outlook was working perfectly fine, next day I get the error message of

Outlook could not connect to the outgoing mail server (SMTP) The problem
could be the server name or port, or your server may not support SSL.

I verified all my settings, but that doesn't explain why it worked fine one
day and not the next. Help

If it worked fine one day and would not the next, you ABSOLUTELY changed
nothing on the PC, and you verified that the account values you need haven't
changed, there are two probably cases, in my opinion. One is that your mail
service provider is having trouble or they changed the settings requirements
without telling you. That's happened before to people. The other probable
cause can happen when you integrate your antivirus program with Outlook and
scan mail, particularly outgoing mail. AV programs update themselves, usually
silently. If the update changed some of the AV program parameters, it may no
longer function properly as a proxy to your mail service. If I were you, I'd
uninstall the AV program and reinstall it without any mail scanning feature,
then try Outlook again. If the same problem continued, I'd call the mail
service provider's support line and ask if they're experiencing issues or if
the encryption or port settings have changed.
