Outlook 2003 won't stay open; "has encountered a problem"

After deleting several Personal folders in Outlook 2003, now Outlook won't
stay open. I have reinstalled Office completely, but get the message
"Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are
sorry for the inconvenience." I have tried opening with no .PST to look at,
and it won't open. I have renamed an older .PST to what Outlook is looking
for and it still won't stay open; I always get the message above. I send the
error reporting to Microsoft, and one response said they had a relevant fix,
but it did not fix the problem.

Help->Detect and Repair? Have you tried scanpst.exe?
