Outlook 2003/XP non compatibility

Evan

I installed Outlook 2003, but decided to convert back to
XP considering I was more familiar with it. I uninstalled
Outlook 2003 and completely un/reinstalled Office XP.
Every application except for Outlook launches fine and
works, but Outlook gets an error message that says, "Could
not open you default e-mail folders. Could not open the
item. Try again." Clicking OK brings me to another dialog
box that asks, "Would you like to open your default File
System folder instead?". Clicking no crashes the program,
and clicking yes crashes the program with a debug
error, "Debug Error! Program: C:\Program Files\Microsoft
Office\Office10\OUTLOOK.EXE abnormal program
termination (Press Retry to debug the application)"
Clicking retry locks up the program and creates an error
report and Outlook closes. I am not able to do anything in
Outlook now, and I rely on it greatly to check at least 3
e-mail accounts at once. Any help would be greatly
appreciated.

Make sure that you are using a .pst file created with Outlook 2002. If you
created a new file with Outlook 2003 and let it use the default format, it
won't be compatible with earlier versions. You can change to a different PSt
file in Control Panel | Mail.

Thank you greatly! I really appreciate your quick
response. I have Outlook 2002 running smoothly again, I
am so thrilled. Again, thanks.
