New installation of Outlook 2003 on computer running XP Pro,
transferred from user's old computer by copying old pst to new
computer; pst file is in the default location on new computer.
Everything is fine except:
1. When I open Outlook, I get this message: The data file Personal
Folders was not closed properly. This file is being checked for
problems. After a minute or two of checking, Outlook opens.
2. In Contacts, there are two items in "My Contacts": Contacts,
Contacts in Personal Folders. I cannot delete either (I thought it
might help to delete one of these, but Delete is grayed out.)
3. When I click on To... in New Mail Message, I get this message: The
address list could not be displayed. The contacts folder associated
with this address list could not be opened; it ma have been moved or
deleted or you do not have permissions..." Then an empty "Select
Names" dialog opens.
4. I have followed the steps in the MS document "My contacts don't
appear in the Address Book." This did not solve the problem. I
attempted to follow the steps in the kb article "Show this folder as
an e-mail Address Book" check box is dimmed on Outlook Contact folder
properties...
even though the check box is not grayed out in Outlook Contact folder
properties... thought I might turn up something. This article mentions
using Outlook Tools > Services. There is no Services in the Tools
menu, so I could not find whether Outlook Address Book service was
running.
Help, Please
