Outlook 2003

I've tried to install Outlook 2003 along with Word, Powerpoint, and Excel. Not only is the Outlook not working; I can't even receive mail in Outlook 2002 any more. It's all coming in through Comcast mail, which I do not prefer. I get the message "The connection to the MS Exchange Server is unavailable. Outlook must be online or connected to complete this action." How do I CONNECT Outlook 2003, then? Is my PopUpBegone blocking something I need to allow? I can use the Outlook 2003 calendar, but not the messaging function, which, of course, is the heart of the package. Can someone please help in very elementary terminology? Thanks!
