why is my outlook trying to dial up aol to send an email i did not think it
had to do this when on broadband

On the Connection tab of your account properties, select "Connect using my
local area network (LAN)". In your Network Connections folder, make sure
your dialup connection is set to never dial or just delete it altogether,
unless you need it on occasion.
