OUTLOOK 2007 Accounts Tab shows no Accounts

My boyfriend (Rob) has Outlook 2007 (no version number available) and he has
several different pop3 accounts set up on it.

When he receives an email forwarded from his pop3 f9 account, he needs to
reply to it from a different (gmail) pop3 account, and for some reason,
suddenly, today, the accounts tab has no other accounts stored in it. Rob's
over on the next desk, tearing his hair out, having to log onto separate
webmail accounts and copy and paste emails.

The accounts are definitely there, they are still in the auto send and
recieve, the emails still arrive in the correct folders. He can reply to an
email using the account to which it was sent, ie gmail to gmail, or hotmail
to hotmail.

The thing is with the f9 account he wants to reply to them using his gmail
account. Or if there is a work email he want's to forward to me, a joke
perhaps or interesting thing to read, he likes to use his inbox.com account.
He used to be able to do it, but now, suddenly not!

Also when creating a new email he can usually
choose from which account to send it from, using the Accounts tab.
Suddenly, without warning, when the accounts tab is selected, the email
accounts are not in the drop down box! It's driving him scatty. he has not
changed any settings, there has not been a windows update, he has not got a
virus, he has not made me a cup of tea for over a month, (is that relevant?
who knows)

So does anyone know why or how this might have happened, or more
importantly, how to flipping fix it?

He has run Office Diagnostics, it found no issues.

He has tried uninstalling Office 2007, then re-installing it and manually
adding the pop3 accounts, but this didn't fix it either.

I have searched this ng and the ms.pub.outlook ng and have found no
perfectly related issues posted. So please, can ANYONE help?

I will be returning to this group tomorrow several times, and hope there is
a reply, I willl keep returning til there is an answer, and I will reply to
you if you post a message :)

Any questions? Ask away!

Reinstalling Outlook won't help with configuration issues.

Start Outlook with the /cleanprofile switch and see if it auto
repairs. Start-> Run; outlook.exe /cleanprofile

If that doesn't fix it you'll need to recreate your mail profile;
See http://www.howto-outlook.com/faq/newprofile.htm

Thanks Roady, I'll tell him all this when he returns from his outing :) I
may be back here later, and I really hope it's to say "woo thanks!"

He tried it all, including downloading the prog and running that and the
problem is still there :-(

Downloading what program?
Recreating your mail profile is a guaranteed fix to your issue. Where do you
get stuck?

He downloaded this prog that re-sets outlook for you from this site
uksbsguy.com.

I was reading your help page again, and I see it says DO NOT COPY, I bet he
did that, I am going to force him to let me try it. If he says no, I'll
give up on him :)

I did it all exactly as the info said, and it doesn't work, the accounts tab
still does not list the accounts. Ho Hum. Lappy is back to the office
tomorrow for a complete reload.

Thanks for trying to help.

And you also made sure you started Outlook with the newly created profile?
Interesting...
Do the accounts show when you go to your account configuration of your newly
created profile via Control Panel-> Mail instead of via Tools-> Account
Settings...?

Um, there is only one OUTLOOK icon to click on (remember uninstalled office,
ccleaner, install office), and it started with the new stuff because I'd
changed the account names slightly when I put them in.

The acounts are all sitting in the account place, viewable from control
panel mail AND accounts mail settings, the emails come in from them all, but
they STILL did not show up under the accounts tab. (like they used to do on
his, and like they do on mine)

Honest :)

He (the outlook owner) is coming home later from the office after a complte
lappy re-install. I'll let you know if it's ok now :)
