A client is running under XP both Corel Office X3 WordPerfect and Quattro
Pro) and Outlook 2003. Today an attempt was made to upgrade to Outlook 2007.
The installation completed without error. However each time Outlook 2007 is
started, an error occurs. The message is 'Borland Dbase Engine not
installed - Cannot start Corel Address Book service." In fact, the Borland
Dbase Engine is installed.
Re-installing each product in a different order made no difference. Starting
Outlook 2007 in safe mode made no difference. Doing a repair of the
installation made no difference. To overcome the problem for now, Outlook
2003 was re-installed and works.
Searching the internet found many occurrences of the same problem. However
there was not a definitive solution.
