Outlook 2007 and Hotmail - arrival of new mail

Please, please help me as I am becomming to be so very frustrated with
Outlook 2007! I used to have Outlook Express 2006 i XP. Now I bought a new
computer with Vista and Outlook 2007. I (finally) sigured out how to add my
Hotmail account to Outlook. It uses my Hotmail as the standard for outgoing
mail and there are no other accounts associated with Outlook.
Now here' the problem: Even though I have made sure, that the desktop
notification pop up is enabled, there is no notification, when I receive a
new e-mail in my Hotmail inbox. Having looked this up in my Danish Outlook
Help I have learned that the cause of this problem is, that the notification
only works with the stanard e-mail account and that if I want it to work with
a http-account such as Hotmail, I would have to set up a "rule" (I don't know
if this is the correct term - it's translated from the original Danish). I of
course tried this, but it can't be done since you can't create new "rules"
for http-accounts!?
So what on earth do I have to do in order to be notified when a new e-mail
arrives in my Hotmail inbox?

Why not use the outlook connector? Not sure if it's available for non-us
accounts yet though...

you should still have outlook express.
even if there is no icon for it.
go search for MSIMN.EXE
then create your own icon for it

Hi Diane, and Hi Greg,

Thanks for both of your responses! Diane's answer was not helpful to me
because just as she suggested the Outlook Connector doesn't seem to work
outside the US. It doesn't work here anyway.

To Greg: I know, that I still have Outlook Express somewhere, and Windows
Mail works well with Hotmail as well. But that is not the point. I chose
Outlook 2007, because I like the features it provides me with. And it SHOULD
work! I'll consider using another program a defeat . I'm so darn stubborn
when it comes to computers...
