Outlook 2007 appointments resending after opening

We are running Outlook 2007 with Exchange 2003. Once a meeing request has
been sent out, if you reopen the meeting maker and open an attachment inside
or something that doesn't actually make a change to the meeting, when you
close the appointment, it is automatically sending through the meeting
request again without any changes. Is anyone else experiencing this problem
and if so, is there anything we can do to stop this from happening?

My issue is similary. If I go into a meeting and back out without saving
changes (whether anything was updated or not), then when I close outlook, I
get message box, "Do you want to save changes?". Any of the three options
results in the calendar appointment being resent to all attendees.
Am on SP1 MSO (12.0.6320.5000). Have been having this issue since December.
