0I have Outlook 2007, Windows Vista and Norton Internet Security 2009 on a
home PC.

When I open an attachment from an email in Outlook 2007 (on Home PC with
Vista), I get the msg box come up saying "Would you like to Open or Save it
to your computer." The check box saying "Always ask before opening this type
of file" is checked and grey'd out so I can't un-check it and stop the
message box coming up.

Does anyone know how to turn this feature off?

I have seen a possible solution for those on Windows XP to go into Windows
Explorer - Tools - Folder Options - Tile Types Tab, select extension type,
choose advanced, uncheck confirm open after download. I cannot find the file
associations in Vista.

This was for .doc (Word), .xls (Excel), and .pdf (Adobe) files. I will try
the registry edit and see if that works. I know that our other computer has
Office 2007, norton Internet security 2009 and Win XP that does allow you to
uncheck the "Always ask ..." message when opening .doc, xls, and pdf.

What is the file type? It can't be unchecked for some file types.

See http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/showdialog.htm#open - you need to edit
the registry (assuming the file type is not one of the protected types).
