Outlook 2007 - auto response no longer works

This used to work but doesn't any more (error message now). Like to think I
have been meticulous in the set up. It is rumoured that this is a new bug;
can someone confirm please and give some guidance as I need to have an auto
response to emails. Thank you. Rose

Don't you think posting the text of the error might be useful?

Error message is "Cannot reply to message". Look forward to your help.

That is the error message in its entirety? How are you attempting to perform
the autoreply. Be detailed in your description. If you're trying to use a
rule, state the exact text of the rule (but mask real addresses if the rule
contains any).

Hi Brian

The message comes up in a box called "Rule in Error", under the heading
"rule" it says Dragon Drama (this is the account I specified), under error it
says "cannot reply to message".

What I did is:

Selected Tools, Rules & Alerts

Step 1 condition values "on this machine only" and "through the specified
account", I then selected one of the accounts set up on my machine.

Step 1 action value "reply using a specific template". I selected a
template that I had created following the step by step instructions.

There are not Step 1 exceptions.

I gave the rule a name and turned it on.

I then got the message when an email came in to the speficied account.

Hope all of this is clear.

Rose

PS What does "MVP - Outlook" stand for please?

If you can send normal replies and new messages through this account, then I
can't explain what's happening. I've tried autoreplies such as you describe
and they worked. Perhaps someone else will have an idea.

I am experiencing the exact same problem. I get the same box with the same
message. O+I have successfully done auto-reply out of office previously.
