Outlook 2007 - Autocorrect functionality

E

enea

After adding my autocorrect entries, they will work for a while but next day
they will disappear, in fact all my new entries will not be included in the
autocorrect list. It looks that autocorrect for outlook is not able to save
my new entries.
In word 2007 autocorrect works fine.
Any idea?
Thank you and best regards,

When you close Outlook see if its still running in tasks manager. Changes
aren't saved until outlook closes completely.

Thank you Diane,
Today I opened again Outlook and added some new entries for the Autocorrect
feature.
I closed Outlook and opened Tasks Mngr.
In fact Outlook was still running in the background. It was shown as a
running process (was not listed as a running application). I ended the
Outlook process then restarted Outlook but my new entries are lost again.
Outlook is not able to save any of my new autocorrect entries, this is
catastrophic for me.
For my job this feature is VERY important. What could I do for fixing this
trouble?
Thxs,
Enea

Forcing it to end is the same as a crash - so they won't be saved. You need
to figure out why its not closing correctly.

Do you sync with a pda? Have any apps that access Outlook data?

Killing a process in task manager stops it running its normal exit
procedures, so it can't save anything. You need to get it to close
cleanly.

Try the menu File->Exit option rather than the top right X button.
Outlook may take 30 seconds or so to close - give it time.

Thank you again Diane,
I found a little add-in that was the trrouble maker (SnagIt). Now it was
disabled and outlook is fully capable to shutdown properly.
But I found that still I am not able to save my new autocorrect entries. I
do not know, maybe it is because of a corrupted file? is it better to
uninstall and reinstall outlook 07?
Any idea?

Enea

Reinstall rarely does more than waste time. Use Help, Office Diagnostics. I
think the autocorrect entries are in the email template - you could delete
it and outlook will make a new one.

I have renamed NormalEmail.dotm and now suprinsingly there is no
NormalEmail.dotm . It was not generated. But Outlook autorrect is running

It looks that outlook is stuck with the previous NormalEmail.dotm

What could be done to force outlook to generate a new NormalEmail.dotm file

Dear Diane,

Thank you for your help, I noticed that there are no more replies on your
behalf but I need to figure out how to recover my outlook functionality.
Maybe the trouble lies in some kind of file/registry corruption issue.
Do you know who may I contact in order to solve my issue?
Thank you and best regards,
