Outlook 2007 B2 - crash on send

Daniel A Galant

Ok, now that i have the beta 2 installed and at least starting up properly,
it seems that everytime I hit send on an e-mail it crashes. Upon restart I
can send/receive and the mail goes. This is annoying.

Error message? What is logged to the Event Viewer? Using a virusscanner that
does an outgoing mail scan? If so; disable it.

Right now I'm getting an ID:1000 faulting application outlook.exe with
faulting module unknown. I did get the same error with faulting module being
the Snagit outlook add-in. I've removed the toolbar, but can't seem to find
where in Outlook 2007 to remove the addin itself. I'm going to create a new
profile and see what happens with that as well.

The bigger issue, in my opinion, is to know that these types of things are
happening and to find out why. When this product is finally released, I would
hate for the answer to all issues to be... 1)reinstall, 2)create a new
profile.

Yep, and that is the difference in being a BETA tester or just running the
Public Beta. To me it doesn't really sound like you are running this in a
controlled testing environment so in order to troubleshoot you're going to
have to reset things in order to pinpoint what is causing you this issue. So
to start with you'll have to disable all your add-ins to make sure Outlook
is causing the issue and not an add-in.

Proper testing start with a clean system and building things up from there
once you find it is stable (to a certain extend). You can then install
add-ins and test Outlook functionlity with that add-in and the add-in with
Outlook (it's a two-way thing). Once you find everything working as it
should from a clean sheet then you can start with upgrading/migrating and
such.

So in this case; we're troubleshooting, not testing.
You can disable your add-ins through Tools-> Trust Center-> Add-Ins but even
better would be to uninstall it completely.

I understand what you're saying. I also disagree to a point. part of the
expanded testing environment is seeing what happens on different systems with
different configurations. I understand this is a beta, so I'm not upset about
this happening. Things like this are to be expected. By reporting such events
we hope to make the finished product that much better upon final release.
There is no way Microsoft can forsee all the ways people will try to install
the product, or all the software it might be having to work with.

Thanks for pointing out where to deal with add-ins. It was the Snag-it
add-in. Removed it and all was better.
