Outlook 2007 B2 is crashing before every second e-mail message cre

I can open the first mail message fine, but whenever I click on New to create
another message, the application crashes with the following error message:

Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience.

I don't even have to send the first message. It crashes on every second
launch of the mail message window. My OS is XP SP2.

Here is the error signature:
AppName: outlook.exe AppVer: 12.0.4017.1006 AppStamp:445b7cf7
ModName: kernel32.dll ModVer: 5.1.2600.2945 ModStamp:44ab9a84
fDebug: 0 Offset: 00012a5b

You know I have had this problem in the past and today was one of those day.
I got a calendar appointment Via Email. when I went to open to accept it I
got the same thing you did over and over and over. So I got a chance to just
delete the message and presto the behaviour stopped. From my experience a
program is hanging Outlook. May be the first email message you have. delete
it and see if it stops. and believe me I did the repair thing first was a
waste of time. So I would try that delete the message.

You might want to install the Beta 2 Technical Refresh (B2TR) patch , which is available at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=b07a3387-01cf-4bc3-821a-0bb10e7a59fa. The patch is a free download and does not require a product key.

Note that this is a patch. You will not be able to remove the patch, nor will you be able to install Beta 2 versions of additional Office programs after installing the patch. These issues and others are covered in the notes at http://pschmid.net/blog/2006/09/14/43, which I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you read COMPLETELY before installing B2TR, especially the part about saving all your Ofice 2007 documents.

Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Change Adobe Acrobat Pro 6/7 (not
the reader), remove the Outlook & Office plugins.
You should also update Office 2007 to B2TR. See my website for links and
B2TR issues you should be aware of.

This error was related to having Adobe Acrobat 6.0 installed. Once I
uninstalled the plug-ins for creating acrobat files through office
applications, I no longer had this problem. I also upgraded to B2TR, but that
was not the cause. Thank you for the informative response from Patrick
Schmidt.
