Outlook 2007 Beta 2 and Office Outlook Connector (Live)

I would like to utilize my Outlook Live Connector account with Office 2007
Beta 2 (aka V.12.0.4017.1006). Is this possible and if so where / how do I
download the Office Live Connector for installation into Outlook 2007?

If you have an Outlook Live account and want to try to get it to work with Outlook 2007, you can download a new version of the Outlook Connector from http://g.msn.com/0CR1033/3. Let us know if it works for you.

Hi Sue,

I have tried using the latest MOOL connector with Outlook 2007 B2 but with
mixed results. I have both a Windows XP Pro SP2 and Windows Vista B2 system
both running the public release of Office 2007 B2.

On the Windows XP machine, I have wiped out my Outlook profile, installed
the latest MOOL connector, and rebooted. I then started Outlook, it
correctly created a new profile and allowed me to configure my MOOL account
settings. Outlook runs, sort of, in this state. I say "sort of" because it
crashes a lot (with no specific error message -- just the generic Office
restart and send to Microsoft dialog box). That last part happens _a lot_
more frequently on Vista B2.

If I configure Outlook 2007 with a Gmail account (or any other POP3
account), everything works fine. Any ideas? I'm not using any antivirus at
all on my Vista machine (for testing this problem) and I'm not using any 3rd
party addons.

I realize that both Vista and Office 2007 are beta so I'm not expecting this
stuff to work. Nonetheless, it'd be great if you - or anyone else - have any
suggestions. Thanks!

No ideas; other people have reported smashing success with the new connector.

Have you disabled all add-ins from Tools | Trust Center | Add-ins?

If you want to provide feedback on your findings beyond the automatic crash reporting, get the Send a Smile tool from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=A2E1F4E2-BC0F-4403-B09F-7A677D55F274. This tool will transmit your comments and a screenshot back to Microsoft. For more information, see http://spaces.msn.com/turtleflock-ol2007/blog/cns!C1013F1F9A99E3D8!135.entry

No problem. :)

Yep, I've disabled all of the add-ins found in the Trust Center but with no
change in the problem. My account is enabled with the Windows Live Mail beta
but I'm not certain if that matters or not.

At any rate, thanks - I wasn't sure if you'd heard of anything and it
doesn't sound like you have so I'll just wait it out.

With my antivirus' email support disabled and all add-ins disabled, it
seems to be somewhat working in Windows XP with Outlook 2007 but it's
_very_ sluggish. I can click on an email and count to between 30 and
45 seconds before it opens the message in the preview window.

I've also left it running overnight hoping that it would eventually
synchronize my account (I have about 800 MB worth of emails in about a
dozen or so folders in my MSN account) but it always crashes at some
point -- I'm not certain how long into the synchronization.

I've also noticed that even when a folder is done synchronizing, the
messages are not showing up all of the time (in other words, it looks
like I have an empty folder in Outlook). This is not consistent. I've
had folders with a few items not show and folders with hundreds appear
correctly. It also is not consistent when I wipe out the profile and
try it over again; different folders work and others that did
previously not longer do.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that there is really bizarre and
inconsistent behavior with the latest Office Connector and Outlook 2007
Beta 2. I'm writing this to provide feedback to other users on my own
experiences because I seem to be the only one that this isn't working
for. Given that this is not working after multiple reformats on
multiple machines, it's probably something with my account (I'm linking
it to my Windows Live Mail account that is also on the Outlook Live
service).

I've already submitted feedback using the Send a Smile tool as well as
through the other feedback channels that are available.

Thanks,
