Send a Smile is meant for feedback for the Preview. Info below.
I use two monitors and don't get the issue.

"
The best tool to use to give us feedback on Office 2007 Beta 2 is called
Send a Smile. Install the Send a Smile tool (
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...E2-BC0F-4403-B09F-7A677D55F274&displaylang=en )
and two icons are added to the notifications area of the taskbar over by the
clock: a happy face to click when you want to give us positive feedback and
a sad face to click when there's something you don't like."

You have room to make comments and send a screen snapshot.

When creating a new email with Outlook 2007 Beta 2 it appears that Outlook
opens to Word windows. They are empty and there is nothing I can in the
windows do but minimize them. They show up listed in my Windows task manager
too. When I go to the process for them it brings me to the Outlook.exe
process. After sending the newly created email the Word windows remain open.

Opening an email from my Inbox or previewing it also opens a blank Word
window embedded within the Outlook.exe process. This too stays open after
closing the opened email.

Closing outlook closes all the Word shells.

I recall this problem in 2003 at one time and the resolution was not to use
Word as my email editor. This bug still appears to be around.

Where should I report this bug to?

No, the word.exe process is not running (at least it's not listed under the
"processes" tab in the Task Manager).

Under the "applications" tab of Task Manager "Microsoft Word" shows up as an
application along with the Microsoft Word shell window that is visible on the
screen. When I righ-click | Go To Process on the "Microsoft Word"
application it brings me to the outlook.exe process in the "processes" tab.

There is definitely no word.exe or word.dll entry in the taskmgr process
list. However, in the application list, a word window appears and it also
appears on my screen. It's just an empty shell. And if I kill the word
application it kills outlook. Going to the process for the word application
goes to the outlook.exe process.

I have Norton Internet security running as an Add-in.

Ok, I have figured out what the problem is.

I am running a dual monitor configuration. I have 2 ViewSonic 201b monitors
and a Matrox Millennium P650 graphics card.

When I run Outlook 2007 Beta 2 with my desktop extended the shell windows
for word show up. Note, they may be from the word.dll as you say because
there is no word.exe process running. The windows just have Microsoft Word
as the caption.

When I switch back to a single monitor configuration and run Outlook that
way, no shell windows appear.

Is there a paritcular place that I should report this bug?

I'm not sure on this. Outlook 2007 uses a Word dll and not Word itself so
Word shouldn't be involved.
Are nay add-ins installed?
I'd try and repair the installation first.
Are you sure you aren't mistaking the new Word dll integration for Word
itself? If there is no word.exe process running then Word isn't.
