I'm running Outlook 2007 B2TR under Vista Ultimate.
Everything was working fine till yesterday, when I installed the MS Time
Zone Update Tool, which is supposed to take care of any issues related to the
new Daylight Savings Time changes. So I ran the tool, which scanned through
and found nothing it needed to change.
Now, when I go to my calendar or contacts in Outlook, I see all my
appointments and contacts, but when I try to open anything, it says "Cannot
open this item." I can't make any new appointments or contacts either - it
says "The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem
persists, restart Outlook." I've obviously tried restarting Outlook and the
computer, but nothing is working.
There are also now UI issues in Outlook -- the icons for Mail, Calendar,
Contacts, and Tasks have changed to what looks like a download, upload,
wallpaper, and wallpaper icon, respectively. Also, the vertical scroll bar
when viewing my Calendar is quite badly screwed up -- it's the right size,
but seems to be displaying a little repeated slice of the left-side panel
instead of the normal bar and arrows in the scroll bar. In addition, the
back and forward buttons next to the date at the top have some sort of UI
glitch (they're mostly hidden).
What can I do to fix this?
This is very seriously disturbing everything -- I can no longer do anything
in Outlook on the desktop and have to use my Pocket PC phone (which is quite
unreliable, like all WM devices) to make new appointments/contacts/etc. and
to get reminders.
Thanks.
