Outlook 2007 Clean Install

Hi There,
I had a problem with my Outlook 2003 not starting properly and not being
able to find the disk I thought I would buy Outlook 2007 and start again.
I thought the original problem might be about a PST file being too big at
1.95gb so I moved that folder and a couple of other big ones from their
location to see if that had any affect but the problem stayed. When I went
to start 2003 it would start up but within a minute or so I get the error
message that the program can't continue. It also says that a file was not
shut down properly and starts the check but the program crashed anyway.
REpairs did nothing to help. That's why I have tried a new install of 2007.
Alas, the problem is still there in 2007. I did try to do a clean install
but it migrated all of the settings from 2003, even though I used various
cleanup tools before I installed 2007.
Can anyone help please? I'm sure that all I have to do is get a clean
install of 2007 without any migration of the previous settings.
Thanks
Buster

Use the mail applet in the control panel to create a new profile, new data
file & add the accounts.

Do not move pst files around in Explorer, if they are part of a profile. Do
not overwrite any pst files
An OL2003 unicode pst does not have a size limitation the earlier version
does.
Upgrading rarely cures a problem

I am having the same problem. I had outlook 03 and kept getting error "data
file personal foldes was not closed properly - the program would scan the
files, then it would open for a couple of seconds and then shut down. i
can't open the program. I just loaded outlook 2007 and now both programs
have disappeared.

I know 2003 and 2007 outlook cannot co-exist so I made sure that I did not
opt to save outlook 2003 when I updated to outlook 07. I need my outlook
data info and need a fix asap.

I also have run a scan on the computer, have a great antivirus program, etc.
Everything seems to be in order - except the problem with outlook.

Thanks DL for that. That wasn't the problem but an add-on called Cloudmark
was which had failed and was causing Outlook to fail. As soon as I
uninstalled it everything was ok.

Do you know if the 2GB PST file limit is still a problem with Outlook 2007?
Cheers

Hi Mike,
It does seem like a big coincidence so if I was you I would be checking any
add-ons that you might have that might be causing the error because they are
failing to load properly.
Cheers
