Outlook 2007 crashes consistently

I recently installed Outlook 2007. Since installation, it has crashed about 3
out of every 4 times I try to run it.

So far, I've tried:
-reinstalling
-changing my PST folder/adding a new one - got the message "action failed"
both times
-running a PST scan - came up with errors, but scanner said they were fixed
-deleting all add-ons - only iTunes sync has been reinstalled
-editing the registry (msacm.voxacm16)
-starting in safe mode
-removing McAfee Total Protection from my system
-clearing my Java cache

Initially, running in safe mode seemed to help the situation, but now it is
even crashing in safe mode. When I do get it working, it often begins to
Send/Receive mail, but then seems to get "stuck" and continuously adds more
send/receive tasks while flickering rapidly until I shut it down.

Here are the details of the error code I most often get:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: OUTLOOK.EXE
Application Version: 12.0.6423.1000
Application Timestamp: 49b08185
Fault Module Name: StackHash_6ac4

Additional Information 3: 042b

Any input would be appreciated. I really want to use Outlook because I just
bought an iTouch and would like to be able to sync my calendar!

iTunes is very likely crashign Outlook. See if there's a new version
available, or use Outlook without it.

After upgrading iTunes and reinstalling Office, Outlook now will not launch
at all in regular mode. It mostly launches correctly in safe mode, with
occasional exceptions, but very often when I try to send/receive mail, I get
the flickering screen and have to shut down Outlook. Any more ideas out there?

So, have you tried it without iTunes?

Have you really deinstalled McAfee, or did you just disable it?

Yep. I downloaded a McAfee uninstall tool and completely wiped it from my
computer. I'm now running AVG Free.

I have noticed, though, that when I reinstalled Office, it reinstated my
personal settings, which makes me think that Microsoft's uninstall tool
missed some kind of local user profile. I'm going to try removing my entire
Windows user profile and installing Office again.

Before doing that I'd just remove any kind of AntiVirus tool that offers to
scan your emails as that 1) isn't necessary and 2) often if not always
crashes Outlook.

Many of your settings (the mail profile) are kept in the registry and are not
removed during an uninstall because they're not part of the Office hive,
they're part of the Windows NT hive.

Would changing my user profile remove these, or should I be doing something
else?

Yes, deleting the Windows user should remove them, or, at least, make them
inaccessible.

Thanks, Brian. I did a clean install of Windows this week and everything
seems to be in working order now.
