Outlook 2007 Double Spacing Issue

T

The Wes

I have a user with a peculiar problem. Whenever he types out an email in
Plain Text, it will automatically double space. Even when he types it in
HTML, then clicks on Plain Text, it will then double space. Does anyone have
any idea what is causing this? Thanks!

2007 is programmed to double space after a return. If you want a single
space after a return, you will want to change the styles to appear as they
did Outlook 2003.

You may want to take a look at the "Styles" settings.
-> Format Text ribbon
-> Styles
-> Change Styles
-> Style Set
-> Word 2003

Note: You may also notice this same behavior in Word 2007

I don't see "Word 2003 in the Style Set. The only option I can choose is
"Save as Quick Style Set".

I don't really understand what you are saying. :) I thought that styles
didn't matter in Plain Text mode.

In this case, I am pretty certain that the style set controls the behavior of
the line spacing. You need Outlook to behave as it it is Outlook 2003
instead of Outlook 2007.

It does in HTML and Rich Text....When I choose Plain Text, all of the options
for Styles are grayed out.

I can select HTML and then change the style. I am trying to figure out why
it is automatically double spacing in PLAIN TEXT mode. When you select plain
text, the style option are no longer available.

Double space after a return is part of the default style set for Outlook
2007. In order to change this, you need to change the style set to HTML and
Outlook 2003. I am not aware of a method for overriding this option to
obtain single space with "plain text" in Outlook 2007.

Thanks for your help anyway...Yeah, this is a weird problem I'm dealing with.
If you highlight text and convert it to Plain, it will double space it. I
found a registry edit that looks promising.

Best of luck to you! If it works, you may want to consider posting your
registery edit.

I found a solution on the internet. It involves deleting a registry entry.
I haven't heard any complaints from the user yet, so I guess it didn't have
any major side effects....

Delete
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Common\MailSettings\TextFontComplete

That does the trick!
