I have an office with mixed Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007 users. All
versions are serviced packed and hotfixed to current.
For Vacation we send an all day event with time marked as FREE (default for
all day event) . Always worked Outlook2003-tutlook2003. In Outlook 2007
a user creates an all day event , time shown as FREE. Send to all users.
All Outlook 2007 users receive the event correctly (time shown as FREE). All
Outlook 2003 users receive the event except the time is shown as BUSY. Which
of course ruins their day in Free/Busy. If an Outlook 2003 user sends the
same all day event, it displays FREE to all users, both Outlook 2003 and
Outlook 2007. Seems to ONLY occur when an Outlook 2007 user sends to an
Outlook 2003 user. Try it. From Outlook 2007 send an all day event (time
marked as FREE) to another user. Have that user open the event using
Outlook 2003. This will ALWAYS show as busy instead of free. We are using
pop3/smtp server not Exchange Server.
This appears to be a bug in Outlook. I can find NO other references for
this anywhere. As we can duplicate this problem consistently (We've had to
roll almost all of our users back ot Office 2003 until we resolve this) I
cannot believe no one else has seen this problem.
We've tried everything and cannot resolve this issue. Any help would be
greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Phil
