Outlook 2007 IMAP Folder Display Errors

Please help with repeating frustrating problem:

IMAP account sets up fine and works for a while in Outlook 2007 on PC. After
use a number of times, over a few hours or a day or so, Outlook fails to
display contents of IMAP Inbox and/or subfolders. In email account setup,
Folder tab no longer shows hierarchy list of IMAP folders on server (when
initially setup IMAP account, folders on server did display and could select
Sent Items folder for saving sent emails).

Send/Receive for this IMAP account works without giving error message. Data
file can be compacted fine.

When clicking on IMAP folders, Outlook 2007 gives this error message:

"Cannot display the folder. Microsoft Office Outlook cannot access the
specified folder location. 'Microsoft Office Outlook' exited without properly
closing your Outlook data file
'C:\Users\...'. 'Microsoft Office Outlook' must be restarted. If this error
message recurs, contact support for 'Microsoft Office Outlook' for
assistance."

Outlook did not give error message that data file did not close properly -
no crashes, only smooth exits and startups that appear fine. Other POP email
accounts work fine. If IMAP account re-setup (before or after deleting badly
performing IMAP account), new account works fine, but only for a while, then
gives same problem and errors again.

If Outlook shut down and restarted, IMAP folders for same account will show
up again, but cannot ever again set Sent Items folder for sent items - IMAP
server Folder list never shows up again (never populates) in the email
account setup tab. If IMAP account setup again fresh, will again work ok for
a while, then same error begins again.

Thanks much for any help...
