Outlook 2007 inbox empties when anoter folder is opened

When I open a folder such as saved or sent Outlook complty empties the inbox.
Then I am unable to locate the email messages. This is a problem that has
just started; but it is vey annoying. I have lost messages that I have never
read. Any suggestions?

Hard to say at this level of information. Either way; Outlook will not
delete that on its own. More likely do you have a filter applied to that
view.
