Outlook 2007 Inbox not responding

I am experiencing problems with Outlook 2007. It opens ok and I can access
all menus etc. But when selecting the nbox, it freezes, not showing the
message in the reading pane and doesn't allow me to do anything from thereon
in.

Two things to try: 1) with Outlook closed, delete the file outcmd.dat in the
(usually hidden) holder
%AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook. 2) Clear the forms cache.

I'm having the same problem, under Vista. I had uninstalled Outlook07
(annoyance at deleted features), but now I've reinstalled it, and the Inbox
keeps freezing -- it also often freezes when sending emails (after closing
and restarting Outlook, it turns out it the message was sent).

I deleted outcmd.dat, no effect. I haven't done the cache thing, because it
says it's for 03, and I'm doing nothing with forms, afaik.

07 did this occasionally before I uninstalled it, but now it's doing most
times I run it. Anything else to try, or do I have to return to 03?

Thanks!

I seem to have solved the problem by running the Office07 "repair" option on
the installation disk, AFTER uninstalling spambayes -- I then reinstalled
spambayes, and all has been fine. (I had tried running the repair option
before uninstalling spambayes, and that did not fix it -- I guess Outlook
needs to be unfettered to be repaired....

Thanks for the suggestions.

(I find it amusing how often this M$-hosted site is inaccessible, as it has
been for the last 36 hours or so -- I've been checking back frequently to
post the above fix.... Apparently it's quite random, since a reply was
posted this morning but I haven't been able to get on until now.)

Just reinstalling spambayes mighta worked - its always good to reinstall
addins after upgrading.

As for the communities website, I'm not sure what is wrong - every time I
check the site it is working, so it might be DNS or a DoS problem. But, you
can always access these groups using a newsreader pointed to
msnews.microsoft.com or forums that republish the posts, such as
forums.slipstick.com.

If you plan to participate here regularly then using a newsreader is better
but for occasional visits when you need help then other forums are often
easier.
