Outlook 2007 integration with Word 2002

What is the integration ability between Outlook 2007 and Word 2002?
Specifically I'd like to know if performing mail merges is possible, or
if Word 2002 can act as the e-mail editor for Outlook 2007.

While I haven't yet found relevant information on this topic from
searching Microsoft's site or the web, according to this page from
Microsoft's "Office Online" site you must use Word 2003 to mail-merge
with Outlook 2003:

Does this integration problem between non-matching Office products still
apply when using Outlook 2007?

There is no integration. You cannot use word as the editor. Mail merges won't
work.
