Hiya folks,
I have an 1and1 email account. I have configured Oultook 2007 with
IMAP connection. I did apply Office 2007 SP2 but then I removed it
thinking that was the problem. Same issues without SP's

I noticed a few strange things when using Outlook 2007.

1) When replying or forwarding emails, the email are saved in my Inbox
(IMAP's Inbox folder) not Sent Items Folder (located in Personal
Folders).

2) When I create a new email, the email is saved in the Sent Items
folder (located in Personal Folders)

whats going on here????

What I would like to have is;
a) all Reply, Forward, new emails to be saved in the Sent Folder of my
IMAP account not Sent Items in personal Folders.

Can anyone help.
Many thanks
Vinny

Not really a 1and1 problem! ;-) I also use them!
In Outlook do
Tools-Account Settings.
Highlight the IMAP account.
Click on Change.
Click on More Settings
On the Folders tab you get the option to choose a folder to save all your
sent items in.

Could be normal for 1and1's IMAP server. It is for gmail's IMAP.

In Tools>Account Settings>E-mail Accounts, you should be able to specify the
Sent Items folder for the IMAP account.

No it's not - I use 1and1 IMAP and that doesn't happen.

Yes that works. (At least it does here....)

I did what you mentioned.
In More Settings -> Folders Tab,
I selected 'Choose an existing folder or create a new folder to save
your sent items for this account.'
In the selection box below I choose the Sent folder (from my IMAP
account)
Next
Finish

Testing:
1) I sent a new email and voila i have the emailin Sent folder of my
IMAP email.
2) Reply to an email sent from my GMAIL account. Email saved in Inbox
of my IMAP account.

I am using Windows XP SP3
Outlook 2007 (12.0.4518.1014)
No error message.

Thanks

That's OK.

Well I don't know what is going on then because I've just sent an email from
my GMail account to my 1and1 IMAP account and replied to it and that has
been saved in the Sent folder on my IMAP account....as I set it up.
Is there something you're not telling us?
What IMAP account(s) have you got set up?

I agree with you it should work but for some reason this probIem have
is an odd one. It just doen't make sense.

I have also tried with Tools, Options, Preferences, Email Options
unchecked 'Save copies of messages in Sent Items folder'

I have Tools, Send/Recieve, Send/Receive Settings, Define Send/Receive
groups and set all my folders to Download complete items including
attachenents for subscribed folders.'

I only have my 1and1 email configured on Outlook.

I can try applying Office 2007 SP1 (which I haven't done)

No rules?

When you sent this message, did you send it from within Outlook using the
gmail account or from a web browser accessing the gmail account.

There are no rules used... In fact if I used a rule and I got another
error so unable to use rules.
The email sent from gamil was from web browser. I only have 1 IMAP
account configured (the 1and1 account) on my outlook at the moment.

So, you sent a message from your gmail account via a web browser and it
appeared in the 1and1 IMAP account's Inbox as viewed from Outlook? The only
explanation possible, then, is that you sent that message to your 1and1
account when you sent it from gmail. That would cause that message to appear
in the Inbox of the IMAP account.

Brian,
I sent a test email from gmail acct to my 1and1 email. I pick up my
1and1 emails in Outlook. As expected I get an email in the Outlook,
Inbox (of my IMAP 1and1 account) from my gmail acct. and it appears as
unread.

When I open the email and reply to the email from my gmail acct. and
send it, the email appaears in my Inbox of my IMAP acct. The sent
email use to appear in the Sent folder now it appears in the Inbox.

1) So when replying to or forwarding emails that I have received in
Outlook, the email are saved in my Inbox
(IMAP's Inbox folder) not Sent Items Folder (located in Personal
Folders).

2) But when I create a new email in Outlook and send it, the email is
saved in the Sent Items
folder (located in Personal Folders)

Outlook was working fine then after a few updates it all went crazy.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
On a side note that may help with this case - I used to have a rule
to;

- check emails on sending
- on this computer
- move emails from Sent Items of Personal Folder to Sent folder of my
IMAP acct.

So that I have all my sent emails appear in my Sent folder of my IMAP
acct.

Now that doesn't work but that is another story.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Thanks
Vinny

gmail does that with messages you send yourself. I've seen it plenty of
times.

Do you have the IMAP account configure to save sent items in the Sent Items
folder?
