Outlook has grown progressively more unstable and slow over the past 6 monts
or so. I get long pauses where the app appears to have hung, CPU % for
Outlook.exe is up 40-60%. At times the email is in send/receive, other times
not involved. A windows tray icon for outlook indicates folder
synchronization is occuring, but I have no exchange accounts configured here.
I have reduced the email accounts to 2 pop3 accouts on the same server. I
have switched firewalls to the windows included instead of Symantec. I have
turned off exchange views on key incoming mail folders. I cleaned up the
folders. I closed older PST files. I am using a fresh PST from July of this
year - rebuilt from the ground up to work with my iPhone synchronization. And
I had this type of problem long before the iPhone and new PST file - the
problem manifested after the Office 2007 upgrade.
I have several other computers with the same types of pauses, with different
PST files, users, email accounts.
I need some help as this appears to be a big bug in Outlook based on
postings I have read plus my own survey of a dozen users here all exhibiting
the same problems. Who can supply more specific troubleshooting advice
(process monitors, etc) to find the problem? Also, I have run the extensive
Office diagnostics multiple times, no errors found after the first pass redid
the installation and all subsequent patches.
Thanks...
