Outlook 2007--Lost emails

This is very unsual and strange situation.
I logged into my MSN Hotmail account today and my inbox was empty! I had
lots of important emails there and nowhere else. What happened, and how do I
go about recovering the contents of my MSN Hotmail Inbox?
I have installed Microsoft Silverlight last week.

After I realize the emails were missing from Hotmail, I changed the password
on Hotmail.
I opened the Office 2007 Outlook to recover the old important messages.
Office 2007 Outlook had some DLL or simillar error and I could not open any
of the email. I
corrected the error by using the OFfice 2007 CD (selectiing fix error
option).
As I tried to open the Outllook, it asked for the new Hotmail password and I
used the new password and Outlook again asked whether I would like to make is
a default email handeler or simillar and I selected Yes. After doing these
steps. the email that were visible (not accessible in Outlook 2007 Inbox
~500) got deleted and were replaced with new 4 emails that were still in the
Hotmail email box. Is there anyway in Office Outllok 2007 to getback the lost
emails.

Ask MSN? That's the joy of keeping mails on someone-else's server - you have
no control over it and what happens to it....

I contacted MSN and they responded that third party software (Outlook !) was
used to access the emails, so they cannot recover the lost email. They are
still unable to answer the question, how these emails have been deleted/got
lost from the HOtmail account.
