Outlook 2007 messages open as a black message on new, reply or for

I am running on a Dell Latitude D620 with 4G of memory and Vista Business
(all updates and updated drivers). I have a lot of PST's as I move mail
around to keep my PST's small. Taks manager reports OUTLOOK using 266M of
memory which seems like ALOT. Outlook messages open as a black box when
maximize. I have to size them to a small size to have the text displayed.
This seems like a resource issue, but Outlook is the only app misbehaving.
Again, the new message (or reply/forward) is completley black..

Any thoughts??

On my wife's Vista machine, Windows Update installed a video driver update
that caused something similar. I ripped it out and made sure the latest
driver from the video card's vendor was installed.

I just installed the "Dell" driver and it had no effect..same problem. I
close "all" my .pst files except the one Outlook delivers to and it seems to
be better. Seems Outlook has a breaking point for the number of .pst
files... Just a guess. Would really like to have these open as I am a
packrat for mail and want my pst's available.

Note that I said to use the driver supplied by the maker of the video card,
not the PC vendor.

While Outlook may have an upper limit to the number of PSTs it can have open
at one time, I know it's quite large.
