how can i get Outlook 2007 to minimize to tray on clicking X instead of
closing out.
There are lots of other programs that allow that as an option but the office
tools don't have it.

Have you tried minimizing it and making sure the Outlook Icon in the systray
is set to 'Minimize to Systray'? You can't get what you want exactly, but
you can minimize Outlook to the systray with no issues. You just have to
learn to minimize Outlook rather than close it.

yes i currently use that to minimize to tray but i'm a stubborn mule and
demand that the X button minimize instead of closing the app... which means i
want Outlook to never close out unless i right click and hit close

sometimes i have many apps and windows open and i start clearing them out
and by accident will close out Outlook... and then it takes forever to reload
outlook which is also a pain.
my comp could be the problem... but i would think a Dual Core 2.0 with 2gb
ddr2 ram would be able to handle it well. i blame it on the hard drive. they
need to upgrade the stupid harddrive bottleneck on laptops... all this dual
core and more ram crap is useless when your harddrive is still rw'ing at
66mbps at 5400rpm.
btw this is on a laptop purchased in Oct. 2007

Vista Business also takes a ridiculously long time to boot i've sat here and
timed it once and it came out to about 7 full minutes from the time i hit
enter on log on to when my sidebar loads and there is no more load on the cpu
and hdd. my hd currently has 30gb free of 100gb. turned off indexing

Clicking the Minimize button is one option.

There's an Addin for Outlook, OLKeeper, that allows to minimize even if you
click the Close button. For details and the download please see the link in

Demand all you want by opening an incident with Microsoft via one of their
official support channels. This newsgroup isn't one. Don't hold your
breath awaiting a fix.
