this reason i would like to find out if Outlook 2007 will work with Exchange

Hmmm.... thats tricky . Though the MS website and the product overview tells
you the same, it doesnt happen.

Apparently this is one mistake that MS has made similar to the office XP and
2003 Students and teacher upgradability issue.

though the MS website says OL2007 will work on exchange 5.5 /2000, it
apparently requires atleast Exchange server 2003 or above

Exchange 5.5 is not supported but Exchange 2000 is.

"Apparently" is quite a vague term; can you back it up with some examples?
What issues are you experiencing when you try?
